Wild Bisons in Florida?
Did you know that wild buffalos or Bison used to roam the prairies of North Florida in the 1700’s? Neither did I! At one point the Florida Bison was wiped out and in 1975, a small heard from the same blood lineage was re-introduced into the Paynes Prairie Preserve. The Herd now stands at around 50-70 members and they live peacefully amongst wild horses descendant of the Spanish who first conquered Florida.
