A Unique Job

As I was traveling on US27 from Miami, a dust cropper plane flew right over our heads. I had never seen one that up close and low. I quickly pulled over and grabbed my Fuji XH2 camera, with the 600MM Lens and began capturing as much as I could. I have never photographed planes this close and it was definitely a challenge! But somehow I was able to get a few keepers.

After about 10 minutes of watching the dust cropper go back and forth as he sprayed the fields, I started to gain respect for this man’s job. Besides the countless hours he must have dedicated to obtain a pilots license, I can’t imagine the training he went through to achieve the acrobatics he was performing over the highway in order to achieve the flight pattern he needed to effectively dust the crops. What a unique job he has and one that I had never thought of when consuming vegetables and other farm crops.

A quick Google search revealed the plane is an Air Tractor from the AT-500 family of dust cropper planes.

I hope you enjoy the photos…
